Hi! I’m Dr. Monica Sanders

(she/her)

I’m a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Psychologist based in Los Angeles (PSY 36190). I’m passionate about supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through evidence-based, culturally responsive care.

I earned my B.A. from Colgate University and completed both my M.A. and PsyD in Clinical Psychology at The Wright Institute in Berkeley. I went on to complete my predoctoral internship at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, where I specialized in trauma-informed care for children and adolescents who have experienced complex trauma. I am also certified by UC Davis to provide Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based treatment for young children and their caregivers.

In my practice, I provide therapy in both English and Spanish, supporting clients across the lifespan from infancy through adulthood. I work with individuals, caregiver-child pairs, couples, and families. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and grounded in attachment theory. I offer care that is trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming, and tailored to the cultural and developmental needs of each client.

I support clients managing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, grief, parenting stress, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions.

Outside of my clinical work, I love spending time with my long-haired dachshund puppy named Uni, enjoying the outdoors, and exploring new creative outlets.

My Approach

My therapeutic approach integrates strengths-based cognitive behavioral therapy with systems and attachment theories. I am passionate about working with adolescents and adults across California through telehealth, with a particular focus on teens and young adults dealing with PTSD or trauma-related adjustment disorders.
